Eddie spots The Separator embedded in a rock ahead. The druids close in, daggers poised to strike. When our protagonist Eddie is transported to the world of metal, there is a distant bass rumbling in the background, a subtle “dun, duh-dugga-duh-dun, duh-dugga-duh-dun” building up a sense of foreboding. The first song heard in the game (aside from the intentionally nauseating “Girlfriend” by Kabbage Boy and some ominous chords after the set collapses) is Black’s Sabbath’s “Children Of The Grave”. I started playing it again today and I was struck by an overwhelming urge to write about some of my favourite moments throughout the story (and include a crapload of YouTube links in the process.) I’m a huge, HUGE fan of Brütal Legend and I love how music is used to enhance and lend added impact to important scenes in the game. Nothing to do with music – it just looks awesome Spoiler warning! Some plot points will be mentioned, so be careful! Suffice to say that it not only blew my mind, it blew my soul – the licensed soundtrack to Brütal Legend is absolutely phenomenal. I had no idea about the music in the game until I actually played it. I was dead set on purchasing it on day one, and I wanted to keep the gameplay and story a surprise, so I didn’t watch any videos or read many articles. A game about heavy metal?! Sweet zombie Jesus! The new game from the team behind Psychonauts, one of my favourite games from the last console generation? Cool, I wonder what it’s ab-…whoa. So when I first caught wind of Brütal Legend, my ears pricked up. To me, nothing comes close to the energy, the power, the sheer badassery of a bunch of guys wailing away on their instruments and thrashing about like lunatics. I love listening to it, talking about it, trying to learn to play it and forcing it upon my friends and family. Heavy metal is without a doubt my favourite genre of music. Headbanger #2: It’s the pounding of creation’s hammer upon the anvil of time! The skull mountain was put on top of the sea of black tears by the Titans in order so nobody could be allured by it's power and to keep themselves safe as stated in the Artifacts of Legend.Headbanger #1: Oh…Wha…What is that sound?.The Sea of Black Tears, along with the Bat Cave are the only true areas in the Brütal Land that have a ceiling. In free roam after the campaign is completed, standing or being in The Deuce with The Mouth of Metal off at the edge of the destroyed bridge is the best way to hear eerie Pipe Organ ambient music playing. In the " Sea of Black Tears" mission and in free roam before the mission and after access to the Sea is available, it is impossible to approach the Drowning Doom Megastage/ Drowned Ophelia's Cathedral Head-on from the bridge due to the large towers that flank the bridge on the Megatage side that will instantly destroy The Deuce or any unit that the player Double Teams with (including The Rock Crusher) before instantly killing the player too.Anyone who tries to race down to the sea will find the way heavily guarded by heavy anti vehicle units like Brood, Brides, Organists, Lightning Rods, and even Tainted Coil units further on in like Heart Cutters. Although it's possible to get to the southeastern portion of the map after the bridge to the Jungle is complete, getting to the Sea of Black Tears is almost impossible before " Racing the Reaper".However, they meant the drowned creature literally wasn't Ophelia, which Eddie had written off as them accepting the old her was gone. In their travels, the girls constantly point out that it wasn't the real Ophelia they saw and that she was at the bottom of the sea. Drowned Ophelia's true nature was known by the Razor Girls.Rima explains that demons are unaffected by the Sea's call because their hearts do not feel sorrow like humans do.According to Tim Schafer, Tim Burton and Robert Smith are both at the bottom of the Sea.Mangus notes that the Sea of Black Tears is closer in size to a lake than an actual sea.
